Were Beyonce & Jay-Z entitled to preferential treatment?

Evidently, it's not bad enough that Beyonce's pregnancy is being questioned. Now it's come to light that the floor of Lenox Hill Hospital on which she gave birth was virtually locked down during her stay. According to a New York Times article, fathers were not allowed to visit their babies. New mothers were not allowed to leave their unit, being informed by security guards that they would not be permitted re-entry once they left. Security cameras were covered, as were windows in the maternity ward. Guards gave bogus explanations for these measures.

Do you think this was necessary? Should "regular" people be inconvenienced by such preferential treatment because they're in the presence of a celebrity? Or should Blue Ivy's birth have been treated like anyone else's?

Debate It! 1

we need to start treating people as equals. no more special treatment for people who are famous. what is it REALLY that makes celebritys so different? we need to stop worshiping them and find better role models.
