Kid Rock Appears At Romney Campaign Event: Is Politics Too Gimmicky?
Mitt Romney, republican Presidential candidate, begins and ends nearly all of his political rallies with the song "Born Free" by Kid Rock. For his last campaign rally before the Tuesday primary, Romney decided that he wanted Kid Rock to appear in person. So, the GOP candidate reached out to the musician's people, and according to Long Island Press, Romney "got a grilling"...
Gingrich Wants to Abolish Left-Leaning Courts. Has Newt Lost It?
Over this past weekend, Republican Presidential Candidate Newt Gingrich criticized the judicial system and suggested that as President, he could ignore certain Supreme Court decisions and abolish left-leaning courts. Furthermore, Gingrich said that Congress should bring judges before lawmakers to "explain" their decisions. "The courts have become grotesquely dictatorial, far ...
Should Occupy Protesters Have Been Included in TIME's Person of the Year?
TIME Magazine has recently named "The Protester" as this year's "Person of the Year," including the Occupy Wall Street movement in the same article as the bloody overthrow of Gaddafi, protests in Egypt, Russia, and more. From the article at TIME: In the U.S., three acute and overlapping money crises - tanked economy, systemic financial recklessness, gigantic public ...
New Rule: No Phones Behind the Wheel (Not Even Hands-Free Sets). Good Idea or Bad Idea?
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has advised state governments to ban all portable electronic devices from behind the wheel, save for those that are designed to support the driving task, and to back it up with 'high visibility enforcement.' That includes phones in speaker mode and devices with a hands-free kit. There is but one exception: you can still use your phone in emergency ...
Should Santa Have a Real Beard? One Store in Oregon Says NO.
In Portland, Oregon, only a handful of Santas have been playing the jolly-ole role for the last 50 years. And these Saint Nicks do not take the part lightly -- grooming their long, white, natural beards, maintaing a belly full of jelly, even pretending to be on 'vacation' when they run into children during the summer season. This year, however, things have changed. Macy's department store ...
Are Bloggers "Journalists"? A Federal Judge Says "No"
A federal judge in Oregon ruled that Crystal Cox, a blogger who was sued for defamation, could not claim protections afforded to journalists under state shield laws. Cox was sued by attorney Kevin Padrick when she posted online that he was a thug and a thief. According to Judge Marco Hernandez, Cox is not a journalist, even though she defines herself as media. The judge says that she was not ...

Virtual Reality Shows Most Would Kill One Person to Save Five. What Would You Do?
The "trolley problem" is a classic philosophical dilemma. It goes something like this: You're a train-yard operator, and you spot an out-of-control trolley car speeding down a track that five workers are repairing. The workers have no time to get out of the way. The only way to save them is to flip a switch that will change the car to another track. But here's the hard part -- ...

5 Products That Should Make You Worry About the Human Race
I'm all for innovation, but every now and then, I'll come across a product that gives me no other choice but to shamefully palm my face and shake my head from side to side in disgrace. I speak not merely of the terrible, borderline insulting, infomercials we have the pleasure of viewing on our television screens (hopefully we are all familiar with the Snuggie and Tiddy Bear). The products I speak of truly make me question the judgment of my fellow human-beings. And so, the list begins.
Are those shoes on your chest or are you just happy to see me?
If I told you, I'd ruin the mystery.
Facebook Wants to Share Your Phone Number
Despite criticism from disgruntled users and members of Congress, Facebook will continue its plans to share users' addresses and phone numbers with third-party developers. You may just want to delete your phone number now and save yourself the frustration.

Sorry Facebook, Your Profiles Need Some Work
We all know the Facebook experience can be improved. And the truth is, they're already doing a decent job, constantly upgrading and adding new features. Last November, Zuckerberg announced a new messaging system, which will soon integrate text-messaging, IM, and e-mail into Facebook conversations (that's right, look forward to yourname@facebook.com). And what's more, rumor has it that Skype video chat will soon be making its way to the site.
Student Suspended Over Facebook Status
A California high school student was suspended last week for posting a rude status update on his Facebook profile. The student had been given an inordinate amount of biology homework that day, and like so many other students with a ton of homework to do and just not enough time to finish it, he took the only logical course of action: He logged onto Facebook and posted a status update about it.
LendInk: A Modern Library for eBooks?
A couple of months ago, it hit me like a ton of bricks--I need an e-reader, and I need one now. I immediately called my girlfriend and informed her of the pressing situation. She, being able to appreciate the seriousness of the matter, threw me in the car and rushed to the nearest Barnes & Noble where we subsequently, and without hesitation, purchased not one, but two Nooks (with cases...).
