Workables solves multiply problems, providing convenience to help the person who posted the job, gaining some extra pocket money for the person for accept the job. Both save the time to search an opportunity. Bravo.

We are voting for the a new idea, a REAL start-up....and a different package doesnt mean there comes up a brand new idea. Somehow innovation is driven by copying a former idea, but it also means adding new features to it.

Well, Workable was copying a former idea...look for instance at www.odesk.com. Sorry guys, but workable is defininetly not new, no innovation in it, nothing new.

Cheek'd is based on one single question and the innovation is, that it gives a simple answer of "how to get in touch" to it. This sounds like an innovation.

Alright - I know many people will post here with the intention of supporting their friends' startup, but even then, let's be realistic: which service do you actually expect to use and come back to because of the value it provides to you? Dating but backwards? Or a site that will allow you to look for people to solve specific problems you have and / or make some money by selling your services on a per client basis?

My vote is for Workables! Definitely a model that can scale like an ebay or craigslist. Something that can be monetized. Taps into the "local" and "community" trends. Definitely worth investing in!

I registered for Workables to test the site even though I believed it to be far inferior to Cheek'd both as an idea and a potential business. The first thing I noticed was that visually it's not very attractive. It's pretty bare and it doesn't do a whole lot. The second thing I noticed is that as far as I can tell there are only 10 people who have ever used it. At least I could only find 10 things posted that somebody wanted done or was offering to do. I checked all the categories and job listings and didn't see that anyone was using the site. I then asked myself why I would pay $5/mo. for premium functions to do what I could post on Craigslist for free. It seems to be a bad, electronic version of the Pennysaver.

Cheek'd on the other hand, comes into this competition as a fully-formed and fully-functioning business with a growing user base and on-going sales. The product is versatile and can be customized to the individual, has at least two different ways of generating revenue and has been expanding globally offering cards in several languages. Throughout the 5 previous rounds of the competition I've been struck by the negative comments about how someone using Cheek'd cards must lack social skills or that the cards are somehow a crutch. The comments were universally from men, which says alot about what men don't know about dating or interacting with women. (Forgive me the hetero-centric slant, but I can only speak from own experience). The card is a tool for dating just like a good haircut. It offers you a new way to present yourself. It allows you to cast a wide net and have fun in the process. Using a card to get someone's attention has nothing to do with fear of rejection or lack of social ability. It has to do with flirting, allure, mystery and seduction. It's a 21st C. part of the dance. The Cheek'd original concept of combining real life encounters and an on-line experience are already proving successful, which is one of the many reasons Cheek'd should easily win Techstars.

I recently went on Cheekd.com or Cheek'd. (the confusion already begins.) it was too much! First of all It took FOREVER!!! for the site to load. Then it was a whole bunch of Gibberish. There was some video that was playing a whole bunch of different languages that I couldn't even decipher. It made me wonder if this was even meant for others to use or just a site set up as a bad inside joke between friends. It reminded me of a confusing e-harmony or Match.com except I couldn't even wast my time to figure it out "another" dating site. "if it ain't broke."

Then I went to Workables it loaded quickly. The simplicity of their site reminded me of google, a breath of fresh air... straight to the point without all the craziness in the way. I was able to figure out what's going on. I can even use workables ever day to find and post jobs in real time. That's awesome! In this economy and just in general. Workables has hundreds of ways to generate revenue for each individual that uses it. Bringing back community through technology. Awesome!

If you have hammer everything looks like a nail! Workables is a nice idea but there is too much disappointment in conjunction with it. If I have problem to be solved, I want it solved not assisted or discussed or tried by someone who just needs the money and is capable of everything if the margin sounds good.

Cheek'd brings along the same problem, that your contacts on the platform can also be disappointing, but you can keep your privacy, check out the "qualifications" before "getting the job done".

Cheek'd is the adoption of the tinyurl - idea and this is for sure an innovation. Big hand!

I vote workables here's why. I was pleased with the person I hired to deliver breakfast to the women's shelter a while back when I was out of town and wasn't able to do so. Workables goes further than just self it can also be used to help touch the lives of others.

Also I can post gigs and find quality workers. Each person gets a rating that means if your good at what you do you'll get hired to do a lot more of it and if your a poser you'll get found out. TWO THUMBS UP FOR WORKABLES!

Interesting that both finalists are seeking to solve the problem of missed opportunities/missed connections albeit in different inefficient markets. Both efforts seem to have merit and one can certainly debate the relative value of whether making finding labor or love easier is the more worthwhile pursuit at a macro level.

In terms of innovation, the way the Cheek'd platform effectively integrates and addresses the offline as well as online dimensions of the inefficiency problem makes it the more interesting to me. Cheek'd gets my vote, although if I hadn't lost it all on Bluestar, probably would invest in you both. Good luck building your businesses!
