Prosecuting Attorney for Hamilton County in Ohio (which includes the Cincinnati metro area) Joseph T. Deters has stated that his office is reviewing the ugly brawl which ended the Cincinnati/Xavier basketball game on Saturday, and that they are mulling whether or not any criminal charges are appropriate. Should this be an issue left up to the conferences and schools, or would criminal charges be better suited?

Debate It! 1

I have never understood why more incidents like these weren't prosecuted. In fact, after a BOXING MATCH several years ago, a fighter sucker punched his opponent following the reading of the decision and HE was arrested on assault charges. Read that again: a boxer was arrested for assault for punching his opponent.

Yet, a guy gets sucker punched in a basketball game, and the best they can do is a weak suspension and some community service?
