With an estimated 50 million people currently uninsured, those who can't afford the bill (and their respective germs) often go untreated. Forget about the variety of illnesses that are spread to the rest of the population, but isn't a looney toon that is being treated for his mental issues, better than one that isn't? Maybe just a little?

Sick people = job security for me ~ just wish people would go to 'urgent care' centers instead of the ER. You don't go to the freakin hospital ER for a cold or skinned knee.

I'm sure there will always be sick people to keep you employed, but don't you think it's a BIG problem when we attatch dollar signs to people's health? Do you think maybe people are going to the ER because the bill (that they can't afford) is sent to them, unlike an urgent care facility that expects the payment (that they don't have) at the time of service?

But the urgent care centers are a little bit less expensive than going to the ER. So, in effect, it is better to go there than an ER. You pay at the time of service(lower price) at the urgent care center, but at the ER(higher price), they bill you later!
