Which NICK Show Do You Miss More: All That or Clarissa Explains It All?

So I'm channel surfing and boom, All That hits my screen and I am amazed at how powerfully watching a skit featuring Repair Man-Man-Man-Man hearkened me back to my childhood, a golden era of Nickelodeon TV that featured this youth-oriented skit show. Musical guests such as Coolio, Aaliyah, and Blackstreet ruled the mid-1990s, and the show launched careers for Kenan Thompson, Kel Mitchell, and Amanda Bynes, among others.

All That had that awesome theme music from TLC...how much do you miss this?

Then an episode of Clarissa Explains it All came on, and the nostalgia cup floweth over. Melissa Joan Hart as a sassy teen was relevant material for many a youthful watcher, the pre-Internet kids in suburban homes who wanted dull, if a bit wacky, family characters they could relate to. No musical guests here, but the dramedy (mostly comedy, though with some heartfelt scenes sprinkled throughout) had varying success over four seasons.

Not even Clarissa could explain why someone made a 13-minute loop of "nah nah nah-nah-nah" and "way cool."

Even as an adolescent, I never liked 'All That'--maybe because I grew up watching 'Kids in the Hall' and 'Saturday Night Live', so the humor on 'All That' felt kind of lame. I watched 'Clarissa' a bit but didn't really like Melissa Joan Hart. I liked 'Salute Your Shorts' and 'The Adventures of Pete & Pete' though.

Posted By Rebecca,

I watch Nick as a child. Nick is a part of my childhood. I love the old shows and miss it, but I do enjoy watching the new shows.
