Tour de France Winner Scores a Positive Doping Test, Blames Meat

Alberto Contador, the 27-year old Spaniard who won the 2010 Tour de France, has recently tested positive for doping and has been suspended by the UCI, professional cycling's governing body. His excuse for the positive tests? Contaminated meat.

According to Contador, during one of Tour rest days, he ate meat that had crossed the border from Spain to France and believes that the meat was contaminated and is the reason why a small concentration of the banned substance clenbuterol appeared in his urine samples in July. No word on whether Contador's Tour de France title will be stripped based on the positive test results -- it seems the UTI is investigating the "yucky meat" excuse. If Contador does lose his title, Andy Schleck, who Contador beat by a scant 39 seconds, would inherit the crown.

Professional cycling has been dogged by doping issues for several years now, and it seems like they're at least pretending to make an effort to clean up the sport's reputation. 2006 winner and general douchebag Floyd Landis was stripped of the title after positive test results forced him to admit that he had been doping. If Contador's title gets revoked as well, this will definitely continue to tarnish the reputation of professional cycling.

What do you think of Alberto Contador's excuse for testing positive for doping?

This post just reminded me that I have 4 left over tacos from Taco Bell in the fridge, so I'm thankful about that.
