NBA player Ron Artest wants to sell the championship ring he won with the Lakers last season to raise money for putting more therapists in public schools. It's the latest in a string of bizarre behavior for the forward, who has made headlines numerous times for his brawls, odd sound bytes, and facepalmy music career.

Some of Artest's greatest hits include the following:

• Claiming he witnessed a kid get murdered with a table leg during a basketball tournament
• Drinking Hennessy during halftime when he played for the Bulls early in his career
• Applying for a job at Circuit City during his rookie year in the NBA so he could get an employee discount
• Attending practice with the Pacers in a bathrobe
• Getting suspended by the Pacers head coach after he tried to take a month off so he could promote an R&B album from his production label
  
• Being suspended for most of the 2004-2005 season after he started a brawl between the Pacers and the Pistons (aka the "Malice at the Palace") and for running up into the stands and punching a Pistons fan
• Justifying his attack on the fan by saying that he's "ghetto" and is "never going to change [his] culture"
• Having his dog seized and put into protective custody for not being adequately cared for
  
• Being arrested in 2007 for domestic abuse
  
• Choosing to play as number 37 when he got traded to the Lakers in 2009, which he said was to honor Michael Jackson (whose Thriller album topped the charts for 37 weeks)
• Having a fledgling rap career that includes the singles "Champions" and an unintentionally hilarious tribute to Michael Jackson that includes the chorus "Michael Michael Michael You My Nigga"

Artest is also apparently developing and producing his own reality show titled "They Call Me Crazy." Certainly his past behavior lends credence to the show's title, although selling his championship ring to promote mental health in schools seems awfully philanthropic (though you don't often think of "Ron Artest" and "strong mental health" pairing well together).
