Megamind Theater Audience Treated to a Little Saw 3D Action Instead

In "Awesome and Hilarious if You Don't Have Kids" news, a screening of the PG-rated animated movie Megamind, featuring the voices of WIll Ferrell, Brad Pitt, and Tina Fey, was mistakenly swapped with the movie Saw 3D, the latest torture porn offering from the beating-a-dead-horse Saw franchise. Considering that the opening minutes of the horror film depict two men arguing about whether they should save their mutual lover before deciding to let her get sawed in half and have her innards spill all over the place (and presumably out towards the audience since this is in glorious 3D), I'm guessing the kids in the audience have some lovely nightmare fuel that should carry them through Christmas.

I can see how you'd mix these two up

The Showcase Cinemas in Revere, Massachusetts, quickly cued up the correct movie and issued everyone in the audience a refund. Moviefone's blog mentioned that the last time an unintentionally hilarious switcharoo like this occurred was in 2007:

"...an audience preparing for the family fantasy 'The Last Mimzy' were treated to 'The Hills Have Eyes 2,' which literally opens with a brutalized rape victim giving graphic birth to a stillborn mutant baby before being bludgeoned to death by a hulking hillbilly monster."

The only time something like this has happened to me was when I went to see one of the umpteenth American Pie movies and accidentally caught the opening minutes to Seabiscuit instead. Confusing, sure, but not as horrifying.

Accidentally showing Saw 3D instead of Megamind:

lol that's hilarious! I wonder if the theater got sued... XD can't help but feel sorry for the kids though.
