For the 60th season, the best of the west will clash with the beasts of the east. As the dust of All-Star Saturday settles, following a three-point shootout, skills challenge, dunk contest, and celebrity game, 12 of the best from each NBA conference will play one another for grins and bragging rights.

Tip off is scheduled for 5 p.m. in Los Angeles' local Pacific Time (8 p.m. Eastern), and the game will be broadcast on TNT. The regular season resumes Tuesday, and the trade deadline for this season is Thursday evening. Speculation abounds regarding trades that may involve all-star Carmelo Anthony, the subject of much media attention all season regarding where he will play next season. His weekend included talks with multiple teams, and they're not the only business meetings taking place this weekend--Commissioner David Stern and the NBA players' union will meet to discuss the collective bargaining agreement that ends June 30. If no new CBA is reached, a lockout may delay the start of next season, and issues to be addressed include player salary restrictions, trading rules reform, and possible franchise contraction.

For now, the league's best are enjoying their rest leading into the home stretch before the playoffs. Rihanna and Kanye West will provide halftime entertainment, and the Staples Center is likely to be packed with celebrities (not just Jack Nicholson, the consummate Lakers fan). Catch it at a local sports bar, watch it with some friends and make some wild bets; hell, watch it alone with porn playing on your laptop...whatever your viewing style, the game is sure to entertain.
