Qatar was recently named the host country for the 2022 World Cup. Since that's eons away, the FIFA president figured he could make half-jokey remarks about homosexuals now since practically nobody will remember 12 years later, right? Right? ...What's that, he's ticked off a large international gay rights group? Oh no he di'in't!

Sepp Blatter is under scrutiny for remarks he made about the 2022 World Cup being hosted in Qatar. When asked if he could think of any cultural problems for people flocking to the Middle Eastern country for the soccer tournament, he miled and said that gay fans "should refrain from any sexual activities." There's truth to that statement because Qatar criminalizes homosexual activity, although the President's remarks were delivered in a somewhat joking manner. The International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association is understandably less than thrilled with the FIFA President's comments, as well as the decision to allow a country that violates numerous basic human rights to host a sports tournament that will attract millions of visitors from all over the world who represent different cultures, genders, and sexual preferences.
Should the 2022 World Cup be moved to a less restrictive country, or do you think Qatar will be a gracious host and will accept different cultures, beliefs and lifestyles for the duration of the tournament?

Should the 2022 World Cup stay in Qatar?
